Peter Millar will open a boutique in Winter Park, Fla., on Friday. This marks the fourth unit the company has opened this year, but the twist is that the 650-square-foot store will be run by Craig DeLongy, owner of the John Craig retail chain.

“Craig’s relationship with Peter Millar goes way back,” said a Peter Millar spokeswoman, who said the store will be located on Park Avenue, the city’s historic center and shopping district. The other units are located in Palm Beach, Fla.; Southampton, N.Y., and Zurich — “the right places for our demographic.”
DeLongy said the Peter Millar store will be located about two blocks from the John Craig unit and will mark the sixth store he will operate. He said John Craig will continue to stock the Peter Millar line “in a small way” as a convenience to his customers.
The grand opening party is slated for March 21.
The Raleigh, N.C.-based Peter Millar was founded in 2001 as a cashmere sweater company and has since expanded into a wide range of sportswear and clothing. It has a strong golf business and recently signed PGA Tour professionals Bill Haas and Brandt Snedeker as “brand ambassadors” for the 2012 season.
