Topman Gears Up For American Debut

Philip Green was in New York last week to generate some buzz for the company’s first store, slated to open in Soho.

NEW YORK — Sir Philip Green doesn’t want to take over the U.S.— he just wants a piece of the action.

Green, owner of Topshop/Topman, one of the U.K.’s hottest retailers, was in New York last week to generate some buzz for the company’s first store, slated to open at 478 Broadway at Broome in Soho in mid-October.

One quarter of the 40,000-square-foot store will be devoted to Topman, the men’s wear component. It will include all of the brand’s offerings, starting with the trendy mainline collection and including Topman Design, its premium runway line that pushes trends even harder. Collaborations with up-and-coming designers will be featured in the Lens department, previously exclusive to the Topshop flagship store in London’s Oxford Circus and online.
