Vineyard Vines to Open Store in Washington D.C.

Vineyard Vines cofounders and co-CEO’s Ian and Shep Murray have announced plans to open yet another Vineyard Vines in Washington D.C.

NEW YORK — Vineyard Vines cofounders and co-CEO’s Ian and Shep Murray have announced plans to open yet another Vineyard Vines store in 2008—this one in the nation’s capital. The Greenwich natives, who started their sportswear and accessories company with a small line of colorful ties back in 1998, will partner with the Mitchell family—owners of luxury stores Mitchells, Marshs and Richards—to open an outpost in the Georgetown section of Washington D.C. in April.

“We feel that the Georgetown area is a perfect location for a Vineyard Vines store,” said Ian Murray. “We’ve always thought the brand was a great fit for the Mid-Atlantic lifestyle with golfing, fishing, lacrosse and ,most importantly, living the good life.”

The new store, slated to open on the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and M street, marks the third retail venture in Murray and Mitchell families’ partnership. They opened a small outpost in Key Largo, Fla. at the Ocean Reef Club last month and have been operating a flagship store in Greenwich, Conn. since September 2006. Shep and Ian also recently partnered with the Levy family—owners of the renowned Oak Hall store—to open a boutique in Memphis this January, and maintain partnerships with Massachusetts specialty shops Murray’s Toggery and Puritan Clothing Co. to operate stores in Nantucket and Cape Cod.
