Gramicci to Offer Urban Biking Line

Gramicci is launching an urban biking apparel line for spring 2009.

ATLANTA — Getting ahead of the curve on more cyclists hitting the road, Gramicci is launching an urban biking apparel line for spring 2009 at the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Summer Market.

The line, designed to go from bike to office or dinner, consists of 13 styles for men and 11 for women, including pants, capris, shorts, jackets and performance T-shirts in a variety of proprietary fabrics with Gramicci’s signature “never the norm” washes and finishes.

The fabrics have stretch, and pants, shorts and jackets are made of Gramicci’s Epic QD, a quick-drying nylon with a cotton-like feel and a signature surface finish. This fabric also is breathable and has a finish of SPF-30 for sun protection. Another signature fabric, Kahuna Kamo, has a three-dimensional appearance in a camouflage pattern. The Rider Jeans are made of a lightweight, breathable denim with expanse weave for added freedom of movement.

Garment features include a comfort fit waistband to keep the back of the pants up while riding, and mesh panels and zip-open vents on jackets allow for ventilation. T-shirts have moisture-wicking and a backpacker shoulder seam, and the line’s reversible Ts come in a variety of screen-printed versions with different sayings, including “Drive Less and Bike More.”

“Our new line is designed for people who want to be able to go from their bike to their offices or from a ride with their families to a restaurant for dinner,” says Gramicci president Marty Weening. “”These are people who don’t want to have to bother changing from a traditional spandex biking outfit to street clothes.”
