Spillane to Take Helm at Nike’s Umbro

Calhoun to head Converse and Jim Allaker to retire.

The retirement of Jim Allaker as president and chief executive officer of Nike Inc.’s Umbro division has led to an executive round of musical chairs, leaving Michael Spillane bound for Allaker’s post at Umbro and Jim Calhoun as president and ceo of Converse.

Spillane, who is currently ceo of Converse, and Calhoun, ceo of Hurley, will both continue to report to Roger Wyett, president of Nike affiliates. Wyett will also serve as interim ceo of Hurley as Nike looks for a successor.

Spillane led Polartec and Malden Mills before joining Nike in 2007. Calhoun arrived at the company in 2008 from Levi Strauss & Co., where he was executive vice president and president of the Dockers Brand.
