Krauter, senior vice president of Sears Holdings and president of Sears Apparel, has been based at the company’s apparel offices in San Francisco. Sears said it expects to name a successor soon and credited Krauter with driving positive apparel sales for the last two years. Krauter cited “a turnaround that produced eight consecutive quarters of comparable-store sales growth and dramatic change in profitability for the business.”
Krauter will be honored at the annual gala for the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund in January as “retailer of the year.” She joined Sears in February 2011 after serving as president/chief merchandising officer for Bealls Department Stores. Prior to that, she was J.C. Penney’s executive vice president and general merchandise manager of men’s and children’s apparel. She also worked at Goody’s Family Clothing, and earlier Sears, where she oversaw women’s ready-to-wear, intimate apparel, accessories and import teams.
