The full-line Lord & Taylor will be 100,000 square feet, and construction will begin in January. The two-story building will feature the company’s newest store design, offering customers a modern and enhanced shopping experience. It is scheduled to open in fall 2014.
According to Joseph C. Castaldo, the mall’s general manager, “Much has changed in the Capital Region since Lord & Taylor’s departure in 2005, with thousands of new technology jobs at the neighboring College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering and at GlobalFoundries’ semiconductor plant in Saratoga County. The Capital Region also has one of the lowest unemployment rates in upstate New York.”
Crossgates Mall is owned and operated by Syracuse-based Pyramid Management Group LLC, the largest privately owned shopping center owner and developer in the Northeast.
The new store will be the retailer’s 12th location in New York State and joins 48 full-line stores in 10 states and the District of Columbia, four Lord & Taylor outlet stores and lordandtaylor.com, the company’s online store.
Eileen DiLeo, executive vice president of Hudson’s Bay Co., the parent of Lord & Taylor, said, “We believe Lord & Taylor’s assortment of approachable fashion is perfect for the Albany market, and we have high expectations for the store and are looking forward to serving the community.”
