DALLAS — Neiman Marcus on Wednesday unveiled holiday shops in all 41 stores showcasing 37 exclusive gifts handpicked by fashion director Ken Downing, with 10 percent of sales distributed to local charities.
The boutiques are the first major thrust of the retailer’s new Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation, an organization that coordinates its annual multimillion-dollar philanthropy under one umbrella to fund arts experiences for youth.
Each store has selected an area charity to benefit from the Ken Downing Gift Collection. The downtown flagship, for instance, is funneling funds to the nearby Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.
Priced from $32 to $1,800, the gifts will also be sold on the brand’s Web site, with 10 percent of sales going to the foundation. Participating brands include Chanel, Tom Ford Beauty, Ippolita, Michael Kors, Alexander Wang, Charlotte Olympia, Alexander McQueen, Tory Burch, Stella McCartney and Monica Rich Kosann.
“A spirit of community and goodwill has been an important part of the culture of our company for over 100 years,” said Karen Katz, chief executive officer of Neiman Marcus Group. “It is with that spirit that I am happy to announce the launch of the Heart of Neiman Marcus, our first nationwide corporate giving program dedicated to raising money in support of arts experiences and education for young people.”
