Nordstrom Inc. is delaying the opening of Rack outlets in Canada.
“It was really an internal business decision that we made some time ago,” said a Nordstrom spokeswoman.
“We underestimated how complex the challenges will be Canada. Virtually every system we have has to be tweaked or redone in some way.”
Nordstrom originally said it would start opening Racks in Canada in 2015, but is now saying 2017.
No Rack sites in Canada have been announced yet.
Nordstrom will enter Canada with a regular full-line Nordstrom unit in Calgary in fall 2014. The retailer sees up to nine full-line stores and 15 Rack outlets throughout Canada. The Globe and Mail in Toronto first reported the delay on Rack’s move into Canada.
