PARIS – Nordstrom Inc. and Saks Fifth Avenue are poised to open their first stores in Puerto Rico.
Real estate developer Taubman Centers Inc. said the retailers have signed an agreement to anchor their stores at its planned Plaza Internacional shopping center in San Juan. This new development near the airport is expected to include a hotel, casino and around 650,000 square feet of mall shops and restaurants, including the two department stores.
Steve Kieras, Taubman’s senior vice president for development, stated that Nordstrom and Saks would help the Plaza Internacional project become “the Caribbean’s preferred destination for high-end retail.”
Financial details of the deal weren’t disclosed.
