Deborah Nicodemus Named CEO at Moda Operandi

The site, originally founded as a designer trunk show platform where consumers could preorder runway looks, has expanded its categories in the past year.

Moda Operandi has named Deborah Nicodemus chief executive officer.

Previous ceo Áslaug Magnúsdóttir, who cofounded the company with creative director Lauren Santo Domingo, departed in May.

Nicodemus will spearhead business strategy and operations at the company, which has approximately 75 employees. Sales are up 130 percent year-over-year.

The site, originally founded as a designer trunk show platform where consumers could preorder looks from the runway, has expanded its categories in the past year, selling in-season items as well as exclusive capsule collections. In June of 2012, the site received $36 million in Series C funding, a year after raising a Series B round of $10 million. In 2010, the company received $10.8 million in private equity funding.

Previously, Nicodemus served the dual role of chief merchandising and marketing officer at fine jewelry company Birks & Mayors. She’s also worked at Donna Karan and DFS Group.
