Social gifting application Wrapp has added new retailers for the back-to-school shopping season.

The new retailers include Dockers, Levi’s and Rent the Runway. Also new is Roots, which sells hand-crafted leather goods, activewear, yoga apparel and accessories. They join existing retailers such as Gap, Sephora, Adidas, Warby Parker and Threadless.

The app allows users to give Facebook friends free gift cards from the retailers, as well as allow friends to add to an existing gift card.

Hjalmar Windbladh, chief executive officer of Wrapp, said, “Times are tough for a lot of Americans these days, but parents still want to send their children back to school with new supplies and clothes.”

Wrapp launched its friend-to-friend marketing platform in Sweden in November 2011, and expanded to several international markets earlier this year, including the U.S.

According to the company, nearly 400,000 active Wrapp users in the last nine months have given their Facebook friends just over 2.8 million free and paid gift cards that could be redeemed in stores operated by more than 130 major retailers.
