NEW YORK — Daniella Vitale is adding more responsibilities to her role at Barneys New York.

Vitale, who has been the chief merchant and executive vice president of women’s merchandising and barneys.com since December 2010, has been promoted to chief operating officer, a new position, in addition to her existing role. Vitale will now also spearhead store operations as well as women’s merchandising and barneys.com as chief merchant of the retailer.
Before joining Barneys, Vitale had been president of Gucci America for four years. She joined Gucci America as director of wholesale in 1999 and, before that, served as vice president of wholesale at Giorgio Armani Corp.
At Barneys, Vitale has played an instrumental role across all areas as the store undergoes a major overhaul, including the relaunch of barneys.com in May, and the new shoe floor, which was unveiled earlier this month. In her newly enhanced role, Vitale will continue to report to president and chief executive officer Mark Lee.
