Body Central Names Four to Merchandising, E-commerce Posts

Beth Angelo had resigned as chief merchandising officer at the specialty retailer of value-priced apparel and accessories.

Body Central Corp., a Jacksonville, Fla.-based multi-channel specialty retailer of value-priced apparel and accessories, said Monday that it has named four executives to merchandising and e-commerce positions. The company also said Beth Angelo had resigned as chief merchandising officer.

The hires include Andrea Jackson, senior vice president and general merchandise manager. Jackson was previously divisional merchandise manager of juniors and women’s dresses and outerwear at Sears Holdings Corp. Patti Simigran was named senior vice president of e-commerce and direct. She was formerly chief marketing officer of Maurices. Debbie Martin, who was appointed senior vice president of trend and design, held the same job at Lane Bryant, and Grant Simmons was named vice president of e-commerce marketing. Prior to joining Body Central, Simmons was divisional vice president of e-commerce with responsibility for strategizing and executing digital marketing programs at Coldwater Creek.

The newly named executives will help Body Central “continue to build our organizational structure to effectively execute on our long-term vision for the company,” said Brian P. Woolf, who two weeks ago was appointed chief executive officer, succeeding Tom Stoltz, interim ceo. Stoltz continues as chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

The company, which went public in late 2010, operates 276 stores in 26 states under the Body Central and Body Shop nameplates, selling the company’s proprietary Body Central and Lipstick brands.

Body Central, a holding company, operates primarily through its Body Shop of America and Catalogue Ventures subsidiaries. It has no affiliation with U.K.-based The Body Shop, which is owned by L’Oréal.

Body Central on Monday was up 18 cents to $8.01, a 2.30 percent gain, on NASDAQ.
