David Kornberg Named Express President

Fran Horowitz is leaving the retailer’s women’s business.

David Kornberg was promoted to president of Express Inc., giving him oversight of merchandising and design for the 600-store chain’s men’s and women’s offerings.

Fran Horowitz, executive vice president of women’s merchandising and design, will be leaving the company and Kornberg will pick up her duties.

Kornberg had been executive vice president of men’s merchandising and design since 2007 and, before that, he was general merchandise manager of the men’s business. From 2005 to 2011, Kornberg led the Express men’s business to a 56 percent sales gain.

Michael Weiss, chairman and chief executive officer, said Kornberg “has consistently demonstrated sustainable growth of the men’s business through his deep understanding of our customer, strong vision and leadership and effective execution of our go-to-market strategy.”

Kornberg has spent 12 of the last 13 years at Express, spending a year as vice president of business development for Disney stores.
