Jill Brown Dean Named Coldwater Creek CEO

Co-founder Dennis Pence to cede reins at end of year.

Jill Brown Dean is stepping up as chief executive officer at Coldwater Creek Inc.

Dean takes the reins from Dennis Pence, co-founder, chairman and ceo, beginning next year. Pence will remain on as chairman until 2014.

Pence said, “In the last two and a half years, we have recruited a management team that has the skills and determination needed to execute to success, and Jill’s future role in leading this team will ensure the best possible results going forward.”

Dean will retain her current title of president, but hands over her responsibilities as chief merchant to Michele Donnan Martin, who joins the company as general merchandise manager. Dean joined Coldwater in February 2011. She was president and ceo of the Lane Bryant chain from 1994 through 2001.

The firm also said its third-quarter net losses narrowed to $20.5 million, or 67 cents a share, from $29.2 million, or $1.24, a year earlier. Sales inched up 0.4 percent to $188.1 million from $187.5 million.
