NEW YORK — H&M is opening a ninth New York City store Friday at the corner of 59th Street and Lexington Avenue.
Hennes & Mauritz is celebrating the opening with an invitation-only party and shopping event. The celebration will feature unique looks created by three stylists from H&M’s latest collections. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit GenArt.
“We saw the potential in this project to expand our market and reach out to our style-conscious customers with an increased access to fashion and quality at the best price,” said Lisa Sandberg, communications manager for H&M, in a statement.
The lease for the store was signed in 1999, but Bloomberg Tower, where the site is housed, wasn’t completed until recently. Brad Kaufman, a real estate partner at the law firm of Seyfarth Shaw, handled the negotiation for the lease. He has worked on all 70 of H&M’s U.S. store openings, and five in Canada.
The doors at the 19,816-square-foot store will open at noon on Friday. After Friday, store hours will be Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
