NEW YORK — The changes keep coming at Saks Fifth Avenue.
On Wednesday, the SFA division of Saks Inc. announced a reorganization affecting much of its ready-to-wear team. The moves were triggered by last week’s dismissal of several staffers, including buyers and a divisional merchandise manager, in its bridge area. They were dismissed following the completion of an internal investigation into improper collection of markdown allowances from vendors and related accounting practices. Saks has never commented on those departures, but did disclose earlier in the week that it fired three financial executives.
In its latest announcement, Saks said reorganizing its dmm structure in rtw will lead to improved store assortment, planning and product congruency.
Linda DeFrances, vice president and dmm, is adding advanced European designer labels, such as Marni and Chloe, as well as designer evening and contemporary evening. She continues to oversee designer rtw, including Oscar de la Renta and Bill Blass, American designer collections, designer sportswear and bridal. The businesses she oversees are in about 20 of the 57 SFA locations.
Dana Kress, vice president and dmm, designer Gold Range and St. John, adds modern collections including Tahari, Tory by TRB, Charles Nolan, M Missoni and CK, and designer sportswear from Ralph Lauren, Escada, Etro and Brunello Cucinelli. The labels she oversees are sold in most SFA doors.
Chris Phillips, associate dmm of bridge sportswear, has been promoted to dmm for a new buying complex consisting of classic bridge labels such as Dana Buchman, Ellen Tracy and Lafayette 148, as well as Salon Z (large sizes) and children’s wear.
Peter Herink, buyer of European collections, has been promoted to associate dmm for modern collections. He will report to Dana Kress.
All of the others report to Joseph Boitano, senior vice president and general merchandise manager.
