NEW YORK — Tory Burch and Ted Baker are set to join Kitsons and other fashion-forward retailers on Los Angeles’ Robertson Boulevard this year.
These are the designers’ first boutiques outside of New York. Both also sell in luxury department stores.
For Tory Burch, the boutique marks the beginning of a planned national expansion. The designer has closed on a 2,000-square-foot space at 142 South Robertson Blvd., which is to open by fall.
“Both Tory and [husband] Chris [Burch] are committed to growing in a very controlled and responsible way,” said Laura Pomerantz, principal at PBS Real Estate Advisory LLC — the exclusive agent for Tory Burch and Ted Baker. “They are very cognizant that their retail should enhance the brand.”
Pomerantz expects to close on three or four more sites for Tory Burch in the next year, and is looking at Miami, Chicago and San Francisco as well as a second location in Southern California. She is also scouting as many as three more sites for Ted Baker, which plans to open its 3,000-square-foot boutique at 131 North Robertson Blvd. in the fall.
The London-based designer, which is growing its women’s wear line, recently opened a store in the Forum Shops in Las Vegas and is expanding its New York boutique.
“Robertson Boulevard is home to very forward-directional people,” said Pomerantz. “This is the perfect place for both of these designers.”
