Last June, Brooks Brothers, which contracted with men’s designer Thom Browne to create the Black Fleece collection, said it would open the first store for the fashion-forward collection — a 1,700-square-foot unit at 351 Bleecker Street.
The store, which will carry both the men’s and women’s range, was originally slated to open in October but construction delays pushed that date back, and back again. The store will downplay the Brooks Brothers name but will include the company’s iconic Golden Fleece logo as well as its scripted signature on the exterior. Inside, it will have design features similar to the Black Fleece department within the company’s flagship store at 346 Madison Avenue including ebonized furniture and black, decorative objects along with custom gray flannel upholstery.
