Overland Licensed for Bass Footwear in Europe

London-based firm to begin sales for fall.

G-III Apparel Group Ltd. has granted Overland Ltd. the rights to sell G.H. Bass footwear for men, women and children throughout Europe. A separate multiyear agreement permits Overland to operate retail locations under the Bass brand.

The license is the second for the Bass brand since G-III acquired the business from PVH Corp. for about $50 million in November 2013.  The first license was given to PVH for distribution of Bass better men’s sportswear throughout North America.

Founded in 1987, Overland has been the global footwear licensee for G-Star Raw since 2005.

“We look forward to working with G-III to build the G.H. Bass brand and business into a global franchise,” said Stephen Palmer, chairman and chief executive of London-based Overland. “We are confident that we can develop and build wholesale distribution and retail stores throughout Europe.”

Initially, Overland will focus on establishing sales in department and specialty stores, starting with the fall 2014 season.

Morris Goldfarb, chairman, president and ceo of G-III, said, “Overland’s vast experience gives us a strong foundation as we take advantage of opportunities to grow G.H. Bass in these important markets.”
