NEW YORK — Brookfield Office Properties on Wednesday said that Scoop will open a store at Brookfield Place in downtown Manhattan.

Brookfield Place, formerly the World Financial Center, is undergoing a $250 million renovation focused on filling its 250,000 square feet of retail space with luxury and contemporary brands. The 2,000-square-foot store at Brookfield Place represents Scoop’s 19th unit.
“I love that they are a multibrand retailer,” said Ed Hogan, Brookfield’s national director of retail leasing. “They’re a neighborhood brand. Their commitment says that this neighborhood is mature and ready for a sophisticated retailer like Scoop.”
“We already have such a loyal New York following that adding another location makes perfect sense,” said Scoop chief executive officer Susan Davidson.
The retailer’s other New York units are in the Meatpacking District and the Upper East Side. “They know their customer and felt this neighborhood is home to a lot of their shoppers who live here and don’t have anywhere to shop within walking distance,” Hogan said. “Scoop is very much a New York brand. When people see Scoop, they think urban and sophisticated. Scoop sets the tone for our collection of contemporary retailers.”
Brookfield Place has signed Hermès, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ermenegildo Zegna, Burberry, Michael Kors, Calypso St. Barth and Judith & Charles. The last three announcements have been contemporary retailers, but Hogan said more luxury deals will be revealed. He declined to say how many retail spaces are still unleased, but expects the project will be fully leased by the end of the year.
