Betting on a return to better days in Las Vegas, Topshop/Topman will unveil in March its third U.S. store, a 20,000-square-foot flagship at the Fashion Show Mall, less than a mile from The Strip’s major resorts and casinos.

The single-level Topshop/Topman will have 180 feet of frontage created by combining four existing stores and part of the mall’s common space. Fashion Square’s dramatic exterior features a spaceshiplike structure suspended between two futuristic towers. The design of the store appears to be well-suited to its surroundings with multiple entrances separated by walls of windows filled with avant-garde displays.

Store number two for Topshop/Topman, a 49,000-square-foot location, with just under 35,000 square feet of selling space, is scheduled to open in September at 830 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The unit will be slightly larger than the retailer’s 28,000-square-foot unit on Broadway in Manhattan’s SoHo that opened in March 2009.

While Fashion Show may compete for tourists with resort and casino shopping centers such as The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and the mixed-use Crystals at CityCenter, the mall also has a large customer base of local residents and a mix of upscale and more moderate retailers including Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Dillard’s, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s.

Topshop/Topman has been scouting sites for stores in other U.S. cities, including Los Angeles and San Francisco, and the retailer has made no secret of its desire to open a second location in Manhattan.

The Las Vegas store will offer Topshop’s Unique and Boutique collections among others, as well as footwear, accessories, denim, jewelry and makeup.
