Bridal week is long over, but that didn’t stop Gilles Mendel from showing his fall 2012 J.Mendel collection to buyers this week. He used his signature hand pleating, ruching and draping on the ethereal designs that, Mendel said, are “a combination of timeless elegance mixed with a hint of red-carpet glamour.” With base fabrics of silk chiffon, silk faille and satin, each look featured couture detailing and unique silhouettes reminiscent of his ready-to-wear. Standouts included a hand-embroidered silk chiffon bias-cut gown in pale gray with ruffled shoulder detail, as well as a stunning strapless ivory look with a sweetheart neckline and hand pleating from top to bottom.
