Oscar de la Renta held his spring 2013 bridal show on Monday morning, setting a dramatic, beautiful tone with his first exit: a pleated crushed silk velvet gown in crimson red with ivory tulle short sleeves. From there, every look told a story of either grandeur — a voluminous tiered tulle cape topped one gown — or tradition, as in the corded Chantilly lace and organza trumpet gown with a lace-trimmed tulle cathedral veil, albeit it was attached to an ubersize tortoise Spanish comb. Unorthodoxy was a prominent theme throughout much of the show, best demonstrated with the baby blue tiered tulle overskirt layered over a white sequined sweetheart column, or the cascading gown in scarlet red chiffon, lace and organza, topped off with a striking black lace mantilla.
