Austin Scarlett embraced a ready-to-wear sensibility in his latest bridal lineup, aiming to outfit a bride for her entire wedding weekend. “When I go to trunk shows around the country, I meet so many brides who love the idea of wearing the most extravagant, gorgeous, ceremonial gown — but then they want something else to dance in,” he explained. His collection offered a few gowns in addition to an assortment of fun, flirty party dresses that could be worn beyond the ceremony. Channeling his eternal muse Brigitte Bardot, Scarlett’s cocktail numbers included a sculptural boat-neck silk faille minidress with a sheer, striped flouncy skirt and a cutaway hem — perfect for twirling — as well as a chic, tailored jumpsuit with a lace overlay. A pair of looks featuring corded lace embroidery gave the lineup a dose of texture.
