The dresses were short; the music was thumping. Hello, disco! With spotlights crisscrossing the runway, Alexandre Vauthier unleashed a clique of dynamic party vixens. Naturally, day looks were scarce. Elaborate draping, worked close to the body and even on a nude-tone bustier jumpsuit, were proof that the designer is evolving in his craft. Juxtaposing ultrashort miniskirts with sporty stadium jackets, done up in crocodile or black velvet, added an edgy vibe.

Vauthier also took another shot at the bustier this season — in satin overlaid with tightly wrapped tulle for a graphic effect. Form-fitting, asymmetric dresses, provocatively slit open on the side, remained the standard look.
