Givenchy Couture Fall 2015

Riccardo Tisci pre-empted Paris couture week with 10 exits, culminating with Naomi Campbell in a sparkly blazer and little else.

The steel risers that dotted the runway were perfect for showing off the drama of Kendall Jenner’s pale pink lace slip gown: Tight through the bodice, suspended by sparkly straps and then exploding mid-thigh into a fringe of long silk tassels. As she slinked down the stairs, her knees kicked the threads into a milky haze.

Showing 11 couture looks alongside his spring men’s wear, Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci called them “bad girls” — the girlfriends of the swarthy fellows dressed in rugged denim and penitentiary overalls, for prison and workwear were the designer’s twin themes.

The couture dresses were part frothy romance, part salty showgirl. Made of lace in pretty colors like yellow and sky blue, they were sheer enough to show off the little nothings worn underneath, occasionally sparkling with embedded crystals or big star-shaped sequins. Frankie Rayder had shrugged a long cardigan over her black gown, the placket demarcated with heavy chain and slashed for an off-the-shoulder drama.

Echoing the men’s wear, Tisci included one short couture overall, and a mannish pantsuit, the stitching on the former and the pinstripes on the latter demarcated with sparkly chains. Naomi Campbell got the final exit, in a blazer and thigh boots, a big jail key strung from a necklace and banging against her abs.
