The urban cool girl, all effortless streetwear attitude, is an immensely popular look that’s bordering on ubiquity these days. That said, authenticity is everything. So while Daryl Kerrigan’s fall collection was full of familiar motifs — leather leggings, utilitary outerwear and army green — she kind of owns it. The great clothes drew on her comfort zone in more ways than one — the woodsy print that appeared on sturdy jackets, ponchos and skirts was inspired by her country house, where show notes said she feels most at peace. Among the tough stuff was a smattering of girlish moments: A knit cardigan sprinkled with flowers at the shoulder and a gold tulle dress done in metallic embroidery had the effect of genuine personality. So when Kerrigan mixed in real women with the models, they looked believable and comfortable, as if they were wearing their own clothes.
