Nineties nostalgia, not the severe minimalist kind, but that associated with vintage CK One ads and the young, rockerish love of Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder, and Depp and Kate Moss, was all over the runway at Vena Cava. Designers Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock even produced a zine full of such imagery, which was distributed on every seat at the show. The vintage, vaguely grungy yet girly attitude was best captured in square-neck dresses with long sleeves — soft and feminine on a long printed style, sexy on clingy jerseys. All of it had Vena Cava’s signature earthy-edgy spirit, but some of the separates suffered from unflattering fits.
