Design director Joanna Sykes demonstrated strong command of Aquascutum’s codes this season, with a sleek, modern take on the heritage label’s signature outerwear. Covetable coats were either cut close to the body — as in a navy wool biker jacket with sharp shoulders and epaulets — or gently voluminous. Of the latter, there were pieces such as a round-shouldered, gray wool jacket and a roomy, hip-length bomber style in black-and-white tweed. Sykes also sent out some simple silk pieces that artfully skimmed the body, such as a black silk column dress with a panel sliced from the back, or flattering silk pants, cut low on the hips.
