After 25 years in the design world, Norisol Ferrari staged her presentation right next to J. Crew, with her p.r. team ambushing editors before they returned to their cars. It was well worth the detour. Describing her collection as Jean Harlow meets Tina Turner in her “Mad Max” role, Ferrari was influenced by her days working at the Byblos showroom when Thierry Mugler was the designer. Her mix of prêt-à-porter, couture and demi-couture resulted in special pieces like alligator jackets with sable linings, leather blazers with mink lapels, leather corsets, a cashmere coat with fox collar, high-waisted skirts, trousers and plenty of dramatic gowns — all entirely crafted at her studio on Mulberry Street.
