Amy Smilovic has officially — and successfully — redefined her brand. Eschewing the charming party frocks of seasons past, Smilovic, who has been working a cleaner, minimal aesthetic, made yet another leap in this direction for fall. Men’s wear played a central role in the form of oversize wool coats over boyish cropped trousers or shorts and collared shirtings. There were also plaid pants and jackets, while a Mod square pattern and a graphic black-and-white bird print added some nice energy to the mainly stark lineup. A handful of tops with gathered, flouncy hems felt out of place in this more refined and grown-up collection, but overall Smilovic is on the right road.
