When it comes to the zany finale of Victoria Bartlett’s VPL show, there’s no such thing as “going too far.” She and her following have so much fun. Consider crunchy knitted bodysuits, puffer shorts, bloomers and “shoplifter” boleros. Bartlett’s way with clothes is always eccentric and still eminently wearable for those whose imaginations match that of the designer. “Deviation tops,” “deflection pants,” “harness shifts” and “opposition tunics” may sound ominous but are the exact opposite. Rather, the shapes are soft, draped, often cut out and twisted gracefully around the body. Gray, black and nude was her palette of choice, with a dash of turmeric and plum. But if going wild is not your thing, she offered some sensational chunky wool sweaters in plum, black and an abundant wrap in ivory.
