Every season, Christophe Lemaire adds another building block to his carefully constructed ideal wardrobe. This time around, it was knitwear in the shape of “second skin” cashmere and silk ribbed sweaters or bodysuits, designed to form the basis of a layered winter look. These were topped with boxy tweed jackets or a cropped version of the black double-breasted wool felt coat he previously showed in his men’s collection. Lemaire, who also designs women’s wear for Hermès, is upping the luxury quotient for his eponymous line by introducing additional leather pieces. “We want to take the idea of timelessness and quality to a new level. It really is about proposing a sartorial A-to-Z — that’s what I’m interested in,” he explained.
