After a strong show in New York for Lacoste, where he is artistic director, Felipe Oliveira Baptista hoped to continue the momentum in Paris with his own line. He succeeded for the most part, showing a lineup of graphic clothes with a light, sporty touch. Baptista mixed surface elements like cloth and leather, including a cool fur-collared gray wool coat with a patent skirt and matching patent sleeves cuffed above the elbow.
The designer added another facet to the mix by using variations of leather — smooth, pebbled and patent — as in a color-blocked dress in navy, white, brown and red. In some of those looks, he injected more visual interest with slices of safari patterns or panels of glittery fabric. It could have made for visual overkill, but Baptista managed to pull off the aesthetic nicely, and even if some of his silhouettes felt familiar, they still had an urban edge.
