Rabih Kayrouz staged his first ready-to-wear show where he feels most comfortable: home. Models descended the staircase of his high-ceilinged headquarters on the Left Bank in crisp white shirtdresses and military-inspired wool felt coats that were given a feminine twist, thanks to curving hems that overlapped like petals.
The Lebanese designer, who has previously shown during couture week, played with contrasting fabric weights, trimming a feather light purple silk tunic, for example, with a wide band of stiff gray wool flannel. Down to the statuesque silk evening gowns in olive green or Yves Klein blue, every outfit came with riding boots that gave the models a chic, athletic vibe. Everything felt right about this charming debut, which Kayrouz feted by handing out glasses of pink Champagne to his guests.
