It wouldn’t be a DSquared2 show without a theatrical set, and for fall, Dean and Dan Caten re-created a wartime jazz club replete with a model acting as a smoky singer and handsome soldiers lounging on banquettes. It provided a slick backdrop for the mostly Forties silhouettes: ladylike pencil-skirt suits cinched at the waist and decorated with decadent costume brooches; lean double-breasted pantsuits styled with fedoras (a wink to Ralph Lauren) and quite a few statement-making evening dresses. Fur was worked into some, like the black one with a structured beaded bodice and a skirt made of fur strips woven together like a net. That latter look aside, the lineup offered plenty of wearable pieces with a touch of that Caten brothers whimsy.
