In their latest runway outing for this Tod’s Group brand, Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi set up a literary café scene to parade their spunky, collegiate-style collection. Cue the micro kilts, taut flannel blazers trimmed in velvet and clingy cheerleader-next-door sweaters.

While the theme was often literally interpreted, the shrunken proportions, vivid colors and luxury details — tufts of fur and tartans traced with sequins, for example — broke the monotony.

The designers also cross-pollinated their schoolgirl looks with fisherman elements, yielding terrific sailor knits and pert, hooded toggle coats.
