The modern industrial space — a new venue for Sportmax — was reflective of the brand’s strong collection for fall. The design team evolved the look with plays on proportion, transparency and texture, and some terrific outerwear along the way. The first exit immediately made the point: a beaver coat, its fur cut gridlike in front, with a black, tuxedolike lapel and suede back. Other toppers were more voluminous, with rounded cocoon shoulders and, in a few cases, graphic surface details like blue eel skin stripes.

The big knit sweaters were equally cozy, like the beautiful blue-and-black one shown with a pleated skirt in the same color combination. Often, the pleats served as a way to juxtapose fabric and leather; a chic sleeveless dress, for example, featured a vertical leather strip that extended into a sheer car-wash skirt. The effect was cool and sophisticated.
