Inspired by the view from her Central Park West penthouse, Lorry Newhouse said she was dazzled “by the lights and colors, like a garden of crystals.” Purple and red were pivotal in her fall collection, with an added urban dose of black and gray. Newhouse also focused on texture, using a rich metallic tweed for double-breasted suits and long-sleeved sheaths, as well as luxurious fabrics like French and Italian silks and lace. Newhouse makes little distinction between dressing for day or night. Her long, silk shirtwaist dresses and an elegant black-and-gray knitted bolero with matching strapless sheath were the best examples of that notion.
