With inspirations that ranged from the Byzantine Empire to illustrations of the Twenties, Naeem Khan managed to connect the periods with a rich collection of evening gowns and little cocktail dresses. Sometimes they were delicately beautiful, like the simple black georgette dresses with crystal beading encrusting the collars, waists and cuffs, but other moments bordered on garish. Cue the panne velvet jacket and dresses covered in antique gold ottoman embroidery.

Khan took a younger approach to evening with the embroidered coats worn over delicate Chantilly lace bow blouses and skinny tuxedo trousers. But his signature beaded numbers were still in full force — a smart move with the Oscars less than two weeks away.
