The physical and spiritual landscape of the Himalayas — their villages, mountaintops and Tibetan temples — inspired Maiyet cofounder Kristy Caylor and creative director Gabriella Zanzani for fall. Such an exotic ethos is in lockstep with the label’s philosophy, yet it played out as an undercurrent more than a theme in the collection comprised of upscale sportswear with homespun edge. Details were impeccable on hand-block printed silk done in sunset colors on a shell and slim pants, a sumptuous degradé knit sweater and wrap skirt and a magenta blanket stripe on a hearty brown vest.

In just a few seasons, Caylor and Zanzani have shown that they can deliver superior craftsmanship and elevate an earthy aesthetic to the upper echelons of luxury, especially when it comes to the brand’s excellent shoes, handbags and jewelry, all top-notch here. What the designers need to do now is strengthen and define their ready-to-wear identity.
