Following up on his all-white collection from spring, Yu Amatsu showed clothes in black, gray and brown for fall. A live cellist and violinist provided background music as models walked the runway in silky shirtdresses and skinny pants. Architectural details like exaggerated collars and oversize ruffles lent drama to otherwise simple vests, jackets and pencil skirts, and there were several pieces that straddled the line between a coat and a dress. Amatsu’s skills as a pattern maker were apparent in his well-fitting, expertly draped jersey dresses with hemlines the dipped lower in the back, creating striking movement as the models walked.
