For his Tokyo debut, Shuzo Hayashi showed a conservatively feminine Cotoo collection that seemed well suited to society lunches and cocktail parties. His dresses, made of structured taffeta, pleated chiffon and sparkling metallic tweed, were fitted at the waist with full, often pleated skirts. The clothes were heavy on embellishment, from rhinestones and sequins to ribbons and embroidery, and fur appeared on everything from wool coats and puffer jackets to shrugs and stoles. Hayashi closed the show with a series of simple shift dresses in bright red.
