This season Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff returned to their recurring muse: a little girl who discovers an attic full of raggedy vintage clothes. For fall that translated into a collection big on rainbow colors and hologram shine.
Some of the best looks included red velvet dresses inset with a pink diamond pattern, sheer and embroidered flapper dresses and lacy blouses with high necks in shades of mint, plum and dusty rose. As for the shiny stuff, iridescent coats and skirts glimmered like the scales of an exotic fish and even the boxy, oversize tweed suits were shot with silver Lurex threads.
Models stomped charmingly down the runway in knee-high, rainbow-striped platform boots and glittering shoes with heels as chunky as scones.
This collection was one of the duo’s more commercial outings — not nearly as nutty as in the past — but it retained that naïve, off-kilter spirit for which the brand is known.
