Nicole Farhi creative director Joanna Sykes hasn’t missed a step since the brand went into administration last summer and was bought by the fashion and retail entrepreneur Maxine Hargreaves-Adams. Her fall collection was sure-footed, with luxurious textures, interesting silhouettes, and a sophisticated palette that included butter yellow, powder blue, mint and sage green.

“It’s about feeling safe, warm, snuggly, but still soft and light,” said Sykes, who used darts for a cocooning, rounded effect in wide-leg trousers and oversized coats. Particularly beautiful was a soft patchwork gray wool hoodie with a goat fur lining, and a soft mint lizard-print leather jacket that closed cleanly with a magnet.

A basket weave motif was central to the collection. One mink-colored wool cashmere coat had wide strips of fur woven with the wool, while a cropped bomber jacket had sleeves woven from strips of green and blue fur.
