Douglas Hannant found he had to “go backwards in order to move forward. We reclaimed the sportiness of our core: less embellishment and more fun.”
And before clothes reflecting that mantra segued into Hannant’s typical flashier fare, he stayed true to his word with a handsome and easy beginning. Take, for instance, the relaxed, leather-accented, felted knit dresses in teal and charcoal, the best of which was under a teal coat.
Hannant liked leather this season, too, and used it to great effect: black pants with a cashmere sweater and black felt jacket or as a short jacket over wide pants. Even a classic lean pantsuit in navy crepe looked new here. With sportswear this chic, looking back might be the correct direction for Hannant.
