After eight seasons designing ICB, Prabal Gurung has his formula down pat. “It’s desirable, wearable, cool downtown-girl clothes, but downtown in mind-set, not zip code,” the designer said backstage before his show.
For fall, Gurung was inspired by a vintage Game Boy he found in a Brooklyn store, which got him thinking about ideas of tradition and technology. The result: classic men’s wear fabrics like plaids, pinstripes and houndstooth manipulated with needle-punching and rubber-printing techniques.
The motifs came on a variety of smart coats, modern suits, sexy wrap-front miniskirts and cool mixed-media outerwear.
