Jill Stuart imbued her fall collection with a strong Seventies mood. Playing with volumes, she paired well-cut, ample wool overcoats worn as maxi capes over girly devoré velvet mini frocks and long, clean-lined knit dresses.

Pretty midi column skirts were statement pieces and offered in leather, as in a burgundy napa style paired with a simple sweater and a collarless leather-trimmed fur coat, and in a suede version with front zips.

Evening attire, like a romantic, short white cotton eyelet dress with black flower embroideries or a sexy, draped velvet wrap option, was less convincing.
